Women Empowerment and Rights
Gender equality in Nigeria especially in the aspect of women empowerment and rights are widely discussed topics today. As such i love to read through and listen to information about its awareness and growth or otherwise. So today, i listened to Dateline African Independent Television ( AIT) news discuss about Women Empowerment and Rights with a Legal Practitioner named Adaeze Anah and Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) Women leader Mrs. Hailmary Aipoh. Let me share with you a few things i learnt about women empowerment and Rights from their exposiiton;
1. The Society have erroneously seen women as docile, weak , fragile etc. We need to begin to unlearn such notions and women should be given equal opportunities. Men need to support women and see their rising as a common good not as a threat.
2. Finance is one of the things that restrict women from participation in politics. Females should be supported because they are more trustworthy for e.g. no female politician have decamped from their political party to another
3 Women should be taught empowerment and values and should be diligent in their areas of development.
4. Women should love one another, there is a huge gap between women that have succeeded and those that are yet to. Women should empower each other
5. A Woman has mentors but no investors, she has been mentored all her life and needs people to believe in her and invest in her growth.
These are very interesting points to note in our drive for women rights and empowerment. Why is this important? because women are humans and women rights are human rights.
