Declare a State of Emergency in Nigerian Education-Malala Yousafzai
We recall that Malala visited Nigeria during the kidnap of the Chibok girls and worte and open letter to their parents. According to Punch Ng Malala Yousafzai an Education activist and the youngest Nobel Laureate met with the Acting president of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osibanjo during her visit to Nigeria. She visited the released Chibok girls and was elated that some had returned and have continued their education. Another reason for her visit was to discuss Child right act in all states of the nation.
Amongst the things she asked for was that the country declare state of Emergency in the Education sector because Education for boys and girls is important for positive economic development. Secondly Malala asked that government spending on education be made public and child right act should be implemented. She further stated that Federal and State Government should work together to accomplish set goals .
The youngest Nobel Laureate was reported to have said that she was happy with the positive response she got from the federal government, state government and the ministers. Who promised to continue to uphold girls education and to make sure every child goes to school.
