63 year old Baba rapes an 11 year old girl, gives her 500 Naira

I know I read loads of stories online but to hear this from a friend yesterday shook me to the bones. This happened in Bagado community, Chikun LGA, Kaduna State.

An 11 year old girl was raped in the community by a 63 old security guard that guards the mast in their community. He raped her and gave her 500 Naira not to tell anyone. The girl however went home and reported to her parents. This news became widespread in the community and parents began to warn their daughters and women to be wary of the baba.

I asked my friend if the Baba has been arrested and she said No, the father of the girl forgave the Baba and asked that the issues be bygone. She further stated that the Baba and the father of the victim are from the same communities in the state, so the father forgave him because they are like brothers.

I still find it difficult to comprehend this story. What then happens to the 11 year old victim, did anyone ask how she felt ? How can a father not seek justice for his daughter for some lame excuse. The plight of the girl-child should not be taken likely, children should be protected from abuse and anyone found guilty of raping a child should be jailed.
